Special Exhibit May through September 2016
"Freighters, Steamships and Sails
150 years of change in Great Lakes Shipping"
ARTIFACTS, PHOTOS, MODELS, VIDEOS
Features of the exhibit include photos and narration of the history of technological change in Great Lakes shipping vessels. See the anchor and prop from the John Glidden.
David Addy, Chief Engineer, will speak about a few of the freighters he has worked during his career. Our first offering is on Saturday June 25, 1pm.
See models of freighters and steamships.
Chuck Miller will be building a freighter model at the museum and available to discuss the process on the following dates: Saturday June 11, 1-3pm; Sunday July 10, 1-3pm; Saturday August 14, 1-3pm
Videos on a variety of freighter topics.

A portion of the exhibit is dedicated to the Westcott mail boat and to Arlene Earl, "The Flower Lady" from Harsens Island, who for decades, sent fresh flowers to passing freighters by way of the Westcott.
Hands-on shipping knots display and special freighter related items available in our gift shop including toy freighters, postcards and books.
