A BRIEF HISTORY OF HISCFHS

The first organizational meeting of the HISCFHS was held December 5, 2009 at the Reader's Cove Library in San Souci, Harsens Island, MI. Those persons interested in serving on the Board of Directors met January 16, 2010 to elect officers. A second organizational meeting was held Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Reader's Cove Library, San Souci, Harsens Island, MI. At this meeting a rough draft of by-laws was distributed. Meetings are now scheduled and a general agenda has been articulated. Initially, the society has set its goals on the following objectives: membership, fundraising, and a museum for the Society

 

HISCFHS MISSION STATEMENT

The Harsens Island / St. Clair Flats Historical Society’s mission is to collect, protect, preserve and share with the public the unique historical artifacts and information that represents the diverse cultural composition of the people that occupied the area of the St. Clair River Delta that is Harsens Island and the St. Clair Flats. Our energies will be directed to acquisition, restoration and preservation with special emphasis directed to education of all who wish to share the rich cultural history of the people who lived here.
